Generators

As a web designer and amateur game designer, I have a tendency to pick up website- or code-related hobbies. Making generators is one such hobby I adopted years ago, back before I knew much of anything. Inspired by Steven Savage's work on Seventh Sanctum, I modified his open-source code to create random generators with javascript. The basic premise is this: you click a button, and a random text [something] is generated in the box. This [something] could be a story plot, a name, the description of a character, the basic appearance of a creature or plant, or so on. I have over sixty generators; some are old and others are simplistic, but all in all, they're fun. And even useful, from time to time.

Updates

July 2007

Much to my own shock and awe, I have finished revamping all the generators*, and this site is fully active once more. Be proud! I will probably add some Ykinde-related gens soon**; planned are four generators to make random characters - one gen per race.

*As of the time of this publish, this is an untrue statement used to motivate myself to make it not-untrue before somebody calls me on it or before August, whichever happens first.
**By 'soon' I mean 'before winter'.

June 2007

After more than two years of not touching this site (aww, that's sad), I've picked it back up again. I still need to go through all the generators and revamp/edit them to make them more coherent and useful. In many cases, I'm going to change the output quite a bit, due to the addition of data or the flat-out redesigning of some species. While I can't say that making new generators is a priority, it's definitely a fun hobby that I have every intention of playing with again. Because, yeah, it's just enjoyable. =^_^= Also, I am still taking suggestions/requests for generators that might prove useful or entertaining.

Contacting Kusani

You can email me at serpentscribe (at) gmail (dot) com or by clicking the link to your left. I'd love to hear from you - whether it be suggestions, comments, or how you've found uses for my generators. If you'd like to suggest an idea for a future gen, feel free to, but remember that if it's insanely complex or requires tons of research, I reserve the right to decline. I'm lazy. >_>;; Also, please, if you do email me, title your email appropriately in the "subject" line. I'm wary of spam and will rampantly delete stuff with "Hi!" as the subject. Also, if you have a generators site, let me know and I'll add it to my Links section.
